The Protected Area
The ‘Oasi di Protezione La Badia’ is a faunal and floral protected area created by the Marche Region in 1979 to protect the environment and its wildlife on a territory of approximately 800 hectares in the municipalities of Montecalvo in Foglia and Urbino.
It is an area (ZPS e S.I.C.IT5310025, zona dell’Area Natura 2000) characterised by natural elements of incommensurable value: the banks of the river Foglia and its vegetation, oak-woods, a great variety of landscapes (from areas of ravines to green grazing land) and vegetation, inhabited by a permanent and migratory avifauna.
We are nestled at the very heart of such protected area, where one can find the most abundant and luxuriant environment, and for many years now La Badia has been the focus of the work of environmental activists, researches, academics and schools.
We take care of the maintenance of the path through which visitors can have access to the area, and we support the enhancement of the social and cultural value of the Oasi La Badia through the protection of its flora and fauna.
